Biography
Rober Beelen has completed his PhD cum laude at the age of 30 years from VUmc. After a post-doc as special research fellow in Immunology at St Jude Childrens research Hospital (Memphis, TN, USA) he became a staff member at MCBI Vumc. He was appointed as full professor in cell biology in 2003 and has published more than 250 papers in reputed journals, half of them in the field of PD and was heavily funded by the Dutch Kidney Foundation. In 2011 he got a Marie Curie grant on EuTRiPD (European Training and Research in Peritoneal Dialysis) for 12 PhD students all-over Europe with academic, public and private partners resulting in new biomarkers and new clinical studies for patients on PD
